when I was a little girl I fell down and scratched my knee
my mother did first aid
and painted it medicine red
and I left running to play with the other children
and I was still a little girl
carrying puppy dogs in my arms
when I bumped my head
my grandmother put some ice
and it turned blue and purple
and my grandmother put some cream
and I went to watch the puppy dogs grow
one day at school I twisted my ankle jumping in the playground
and went to the hospital in an ambulance
the nurse bound my ankle and gave me crutches
beautiful and little
I played a lot with them
and jumped in one foot until they I could jump on both
today your eyes looked away upon other things
and your likes didn’t like me
and my heart burst
and I did the first aid myself
I mended it with two bandages
and left, still, with an open chest
